All participants at NARHA centers are unique and deserve recognition. But every once in a while an equestrian comes along who is simply outstanding. They may be a star at horse show competitions, or they may still be relying on two sidewalkers and a horse leader to get around the area at a walk. But whenever this person appears the hearts and spirits of everyone are transformed. Who will you nominate for NARHA ‘s 2010 Adult Equestrian of the Year Award?
All participants at NARHA centers are unique and deserve recognition. But every once in a while a child equestrian comes along that is simply outstanding. Help us identify the equine participating in a NARHA Center program who best defines the heart and soul of equine assisted activities and therapies. Nominate the horse, pony, donkey, mule or burro that you feel personifies the willingness, attitude and diversity of talents that these hard-working partners bring to EAAT and all it stands for.
Our service personnel have fought to preserve our freedom, and, for many, at a very dear cost.
This year NARHA will award an individual membership to the NARHA 2010 Horses for Heros of the Year. Your nominees don’t need to be a NARHA member or join. It is our honor to recognize this individual by welcoming him or her into the community that appreciates the power of the horse to change lives. And of course, we hope he or she will be able to join us at the 2010 NARHA National Conference and Annual Meeting Awards banquet on Saturday, November 6th in Denver, CO.
So many participants at NARHA centers have worked with their disability to be independent equestrians. Do you know an adult that represents that community in a unique and remarkable manner?
Instructors invest time and energy in training and continuously developing their skills as professionals in the Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies industry. They spend hours in the sun and cold weather, in dusty barns and arenas coaxing participants, horses, leaders and sidewalkers to appreciate with them the power of the horse. It doesn’t happen without these 3,000+ individuals who have dedicated their energy, their careers and their passion to proving that each of us have exceptional abilities.
The growth of the equine assisted activities and therapies industry continues to grow at dramatic rates. It is the untiring commitment of professionals in the industry that has spurred this growth and the credibility and visibility that our pursuits with equines and the participants with disabilities and amazing abilities continue to earn. The James Brady Professional Achievement Award recognizes the contributions made by these professionals (occupational therapists, physical therapists, educators, psychologists, riding instructors, executive, program coordinators and others) to the field.
Driving has expanded the world of equine assisted activities and offered the power of the horse to change lives to some participants who were unable to experience this world. Please help NARHA identify an individual who has exemplified outstanding dedication to the development and promotion of driving for individuals with disabilities. This person may be a NARHA instructor who has demonstrated exceptional skills in teaching; a participant who utilizes skills learned in a NARHA driving program to excel in competition; or a program developer who has worked to develop and promoted driving activities for individuals with disabilities.
It wouldn’t happen without their help. They dedicate more than 30,000 hours at NARHA centers every year working as sidewalkers and leaders, providing office support, caring for horses, helping with barn operations, building fences, mowing grass, scooping poop and offering hugs to participants, riders and center staff. NARHA center volunteers rock the EAAT world.
All participants at NARHA centers are unique and deserve recognition. But every once in a while a youth equestrian comes along that is simply outstanding. They may be a star at horse show competitions, or they may still be relying on two sidewalkers and a horse leader to get around the area at a walk. But whenever this child appears the hearts and spirits of everyone are transformed. Who do you have that deserves recognition as NARHA’s 2010 Youth Equestrian of the Year?
